Saturday 18th December: 3pm

Carols by the riverside

Outdoor Carol Service – December 2020

Our outdoor carol service in December 2020 was very popular and so we’re excited to announce another outdoor event for 2021!

Join us at the open-air theatre in the Prudhoe Riverside Country Park at 3pm on Saturday 18th December for carols, a Christmas reading and a short reflection.

This is a family- and dog-friendly event. Make sure to wrap up warm and bring a torch!

Car parking will be available in the normal riverside car park as well as the overflow car park right next to the open-air theatre.

There’s no need to register in advance and carol sheets will be provided.

If the weather is too bad, we will announce on our website and Facebook page that the event will be postponed until the same time the following day – Sun 19th Dec.

Sunday 19th December: 7pm

Carols by Candlelight

Antiphon at Thorneyburn church

Led by Antiphon, a Tyne Valley chamber choir specialising in sacred music, our Carols by Candlelight service on Sunday 19th December promises to be a real treat!

You’re warmly invited to join us for this traditional service of Bible readings, anthems, congregational carols, prayers and a seasonal reflection.

There’s no need to register in advance to attend this service but we would ask that you arrive early – it will take a bit of time to seat everyone safely.

The church is likely to be pretty full at this service and COVID19 has not gone away. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, we would be grateful if adults and older children would wear a face covering.

Christmas Eve: 3pm & 5pm

Christingle Services

Christingle Service 2017

We’re pleased to announce the return of our regular Christingle services this year!

The whole family is invited to join us at either 3pm or 5pm on Christmas Eve.

You can expect lively Christmas songs and traditional carols, child-friendly prayers and a plain-language re-telling of the Christmas story. And of course, your own Christingle orange to decorate – and (eventually) eat!

There’s no need to register in advance to attend this service but we would ask that you arrive early – it will take a bit of time to seat everyone safely.

The church is likely to be very full at both these services and COVID19 has not gone away. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, we would be grateful if adults and older children would wear a face covering.

Christmas Eve: 9pm

Late Night Communion Service

Perhaps the noise and excitement of our Christingle Service is just not your thing!

At 9pm on Christmas Eve you’re invited to join us for a quiet, reflective service with Christmas readings, prayers, carols and a short seasonal talk.

There’s no need to register in advance to attend this service but we would ask that you arrive early – it will take a bit of time to seat everyone safely.

The church is likely to be quite full at this services and COVID19 has not gone away. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, we would be grateful if adults and older children would wear a face covering.

You may know that traditionally we previously have held a “Midnight Communion” service on Christmas Eve. In 2020 we ran an additional earlier service (to help us manage numbers) which proved to be twice as popular as the usual slot! So for 2021, we are sticking with the earlier time.

Christmas Day: 10am

Morning Worship

Rev Dan on the set at “The Christmas Journey”

On Christmas Day there will also be a service of Morning Worship (without communion). This will be a short, informal service with a mixture of lively songs and traditional carols with some special fun elements for children.

Bring a present to show everyone, if you’re lucky enough to have opened one already!
